Snow Day

Gratitude for a snow day?

Of course! But it’s not what you think, as in: “Woohoo! I don’t have to work today.”

Today, I’m sitting in our quiet offices at Joining Vision and Action, across from this spare snow scene across Sloan’s Lake, and feeling extreme gratitude for a snow day.

I declared a work from home day for our metro Denver team members, who are used to staying in touch remotely (we have team members in Grand Junction, Chicago, Houston and Minnesota).
Leaving me with a moment of quiet time to reflect on how fortunate I am.

  • To have work that matters and pays the bills
  • To be able to look out over Denver’s beautiful Sloan’s Lake every day, with its water and water fowl. And on great days, be able to do a meeting over a walk in the park
  • To be surrounded by team members who are as passionate about community and social change as I am
  • To be able to work with changemakers every day. As I’m looking over today’s schedule, I’m in awe.
    • Putting finishing touches on a strategic plan that relates to gender equity.
    • A call about political strategy.
    • Starting a project that will bring people together to take action on an issue that matters a great deal to our beautiful state.
