I sometimes hate to admit it, but I do about 50% of my shopping on Amazon. I mean, why go to the store for paper towels and toothpaste when I can have them delivered to my front stoop? However, I didn’t know until now that I can support nonprofits while I shop there! I just found out about Amazon Smile, which gives a nonprofit of my choice 0.5% of my purchase every time I shop. All you have to do is go to smile.amazon.com and sign in with your amazon.com account information. The page will prompt you to search for an organization, at which point you can select your nonprofit of choice. Find out more gritty details here The only catch is that you have to enter the smile.amazon.com URL every time you shop at Amazon, so bookmark it as an easy way to remember.

Now, for those of you who want to be on the receiving end of these purchases, this is a great way to garner donations from large swaths of your supporters. To be eligible, your organization must be a 501(c)3 in good standing with the IRS and located within the United States. That 0.5% could add up quickly if you get the word out on social media and through e-blasts! To register your organization, go to https://org.amazon.com/.

This is a really cool way to generate some income that fits with how people already shop. Make sure you get the word out and have people use the smile.amazon.com URL! Happy shopping!
