Raising money is one of the most important things most nonprofits do. Without adequate funding, nothing else happens.

JVA’s 2-day Development Director Intensive is coming up July 16 and 17, and there is still time to sign up. The training is a chance for people new to development to jumpstart their careers and for people who have some experience to brush up on current best practices. Of course, it’s also a good chance to rub shoulders with your peers and learn from each other.

“This class was really helpful for me,” says ReVision International Development Coordinator Barbara Frommell, who came to ReVision after a 10-year career in urban planning.

“It was really eye-opening,” she said. “I was not only new to development but new to nonprofits,“ she said. Frommell said she refers back to her class binder frequently and has found it useful as she created fundraising policies, from basics like how to reach out to donors and how to acknowledge donors to the more esoteric, such as how to create an organizational culture of fundraising that includes everyone from the board of directors to the people who answer the phone.

“I would recommend the class to anyone,” she said.
