Strengths-Based Approaches for Staff and Leadership

Do you really know the strengths, skills and talents of your staff and board members? If so, do you know how to use those attributes to their fullest extent? JVA can teach you how to employ strengths-based approaches to get the most out of your team.

Accentuating the positive

At JVA, we believe it’s more productive to spend time building up strengths rather than focusing on weaknesses. The best teams have a blend of different strengths, which can be combined and leveraged to accomplish great things.

What’s more, not only can a strengths-based approach increase the effectiveness and efficiency of your organization, it can make your team members happier and more confident, because they’re doing what they do best.

StrengthsFinder 2.0

Strengths-based training will introduce you to ways to identify and use people’s natural strengths and talents to bolster your organization. Using the renowned StrengthsFinder 2.0 tool and framework, you will learn how to leverage the assets and strengths of every person on your team to accomplish key goals—including fundraising—for your organization.

Before the workshop, participants will be asked to purchase StrengthsFinder 2.0 and take the StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment. Armed with knowledge of each participant’s top five strengths, the group will be able to examine how individuals with different strengths tend to approach real-life situations, and how the team can use these typical responses to the advantage of the organization.

Your takeaways

Participants will leave with:

  • An understanding of the strengths-based leadership approach to executive, staff and board governance
  • Concrete ideas on finding staff and board members who complement the strengths of those already on the team and in executive leadership
  • Knowledge of how to use each person’s strengths to form teams that can successfully achieve the organization’s key goals
  • Increased awareness of how a strengths-based approach can result in the development or strengthening of a dynamic staff and board
