Amount: unspecified

Website: https://www.oscars.org/education-grants/filmcraft

Description:

The purpose of the program is to provide practical experiences for grantees to acquire the skills needed to enter the industry and give over their narrative. Programs should encourage an appreciation of film as both a vocation and an art form. FilmCraft grants support high-quality educational programs that identify and empower future filmmakers from nontraditional backgrounds. Targeted programs include those that encourage an appreciation of film as both a vocation and an art form, and those that provide direct, hands-on opportunities for participants to gain the filmmaking skills they need to tell their stories.

Through the Grants program, the Academy seeks to:

  1. Promote diversity
  2. Bridge the opportunity divide
  3. Attract and engage broad new audiences for theatrical motion pictures
  4. Provide a platform for underrepresented artists, the full range of film genres, and a variety of viewpoints and approaches
  5. Encourage filmmaking as a vocation
  6. Illuminate less visible aspects of filmmaking and the film industry through scholarly research, presentations and discussions
