Description:

The purpose of the program is to support schools for nutrition initiatives. Grants are open to PreK-8 schools in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Texas, Arkansas, Nebraska, and California. Funding is intended to help schools provide a learning environment where students are healthy, active, and ready to learn.

Applications for the $2,500 nutrition grant level must include at least two nutrition initiatives, including an evidence-based nutrition education curriculum.

Schools with greater than 74.5% of students eligible for free/reduced priced meals may receive priority. All schools in eligible states, however, are strongly encouraged to apply. Award decisions are based on building enrollment, project type, potential impact and a school’s ability to mobilize parents and students around school wellness initiatives.
