Description:
The purpose of this program is to assist migratory or seasonal farmworkers, or immediate family members of such workers, who are enrolled or are admitted for enrollment on a full-time basis at an institution of higher education (IHE) to complete their first academic year. Eligible services include outreach to persons who are eligible, counseling, tutoring, skills workshops, financial aid stipends, health services, and housing assistance to eligible students during their first year of college. Limited follow-up services may also be provided to participants after their first year.
Preference will be given to projects that meet at least one of the following criteria:
  1. Competitive preference priority 1:  projects that are designed to improve student achievement or other educational outcomes in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and/or computer science, as well as create or expand partnerships between schools, local educational agencies, state educational agencies, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and/or IHEs to give students access to internships, apprenticeships, or other work-based learning experiences in STEM fields, including computer science
  2. Competitive preference priority 2: expiring projects proposed by current award recipients that received their current award in FY 2015 and are in their final budget period
