Gates Family Foundation: Capital Grants

Deadline: 3/15/2021

Amount: unspecified

Website: https://gatesfamilyfoundation.org/types-of-support/capital-grants/

Description:

The purpose of this program is to support capital projects, which are typically defined as building purchases, construction, expansion, renovation, and/or land acquisition. Where possible, the funding agency seeks to support organizations that address root problems with substantive solutions. Applicants should provide strong evidence of support for the project from the community, and, whenever possible, should incorporate green building and sustainable development practices into their projects. Ultimately, projects are expected to promote excellence, innovation, and self-sufficiency in education; healthy lifestyles; community enrichment; connection to nature; and stewardship of Colorado’s natural inheritance. All projects must aim to enhance the quality of life for those living in, working in, and visiting Colorado.

Because the foundation adjusted grantmaking priorities in 2020 to meet immediate needs related to COVID-19 public health and economic crises the capital grants program overall will be more competitive this year, and will fund fewer capital projects than usual. Currently a number of requests from our March 15 deadline remain on hold, to be reviewed on a rolling basis. Our primary objective is to be responsive to the evolving and urgent needs of our communities.
