Description:
The purpose of this program is to prevent at-risk households, including youth-headed households, from becoming homeless, and to assist in stabilizing their housing situation by providing temporary financial assistance and housing-focused case management. Funding will support local nonprofit agencies that provide critical homeless prevention programs and services to households throughout the state.
Eligible uses of funds include:
- Financial assistance:
- Security and utility deposits for up to one and one-half months of rent
- Rental assistance for up to six months
- Utility payments that must be made to prevent eviction
- Case management and supportive services:
- Developing an individualized housing stabilization plan with participating households that identifies needed services and documents a path to attainment
- Providing referrals to programs that assist households who are in danger of becoming homeless in obtaining services and information
- Negotiating with a landlord to assist households in avoiding eviction
- Developing a money management plan that incorporates the resolution of participant debt and credit issues
- Providing referrals or assistance in obtaining education and employment
- Administrative costs:
- Salaries, wages, and related costs of the applicant organization’s staff, subcontractor’s staff, or other staff engaged in project administration
- Operations, including indirect or direct costs for goods and services required to administer the project, such as rent, equipment, office supplies, insurance, and utilities
