Description:
The purpose of this program is to develop, implement, evaluate, and disseminate strategies to improve the management of opioid use and opioid use disorder (OUD) in older adults in primary care settings. Strategies should allow primary care practices to optimize pain management in their older adult patients, prescribe and monitor appropriate opioid use so as to minimize adverse events and addiction risk, and identify and treat OUD. These strategies should build on evidence-based guidelines, and where possible, tested tools. Projects should focus primarily on primary care, although other settings may be incorporated into projects as part of the continuum of care for patients based within a primary care setting.
