Description:
The purpose of this program is to enhance existing drug courts or implement new juvenile drug treatment courts (JDTCs) for individuals with substance abuse problems or co-occurring mental health disorders, including histories of trauma. JDTCs will allow for intensive judicial supervision of youth and the provision of treatment with the goal of reducing recidivism and substance abuse. Individuals served by this program must be non-violent offenders.
All drug courts supported through this program must:
  1. Provide continuing judicial supervision over juveniles and other individuals under the court’s jurisdiction with substance abuse problems
  2. Coordinate with appropriate state or local prosecutors
  3. Integrate administration of sanctions and services, as outlined on pages 6-7 of the NOFA file
  4. Provide mandatory drug testing that is accurate and practicable, and impose graduated sanctions on individuals who fail tests
