Description:
The purpose of this program is to support organizations that focus on fostering a society in which adults ages 60 and older are valued, while providing the support they need to lead a dignified and engaged life. Support is also intended for families, caregivers, volunteers, paid professionals, and communities as part of a holistic approach to enrich quality of life, promote self-sufficiency, and assist older adults in achieving their highest potential. A small number of awards may advance the work of organizations engaged in research and communication initiatives that raise awareness about the issues facing older adults and encourage implementation of policies and practices that effectively address these issues.
Funds will support organizations that align with one of the following four broad goals of the funding agency:
  1. Foster community engagement among adults ages 60 and older
  2. Assist older adults to age in place
  3. Support family and professional caregivers to provide quality care for elders
  4. Improve the quality of life and care for elders in residential long-term care (LTC) settings
Eligibility is limited to applicants serving the residents of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming.
