Description:
The purpose of this program is to serve students and teachers in developing interests, strategies, and skills needed to enhance society. The program funds the development of in-class and extracurricular projects that nurture the intellectual, artistic, and creative abilities of preK-12 students from low-income households. The program is intended to support applicants that have facilities, expertise, and community endorsement for the project, but need additional resources for materials, time, and transportation.
Projects should meet the following criteria:
  1. Supplement regular classroom curricula or after-school activities
  2. Address students’ ideas for enrichment activities or a need for strengthening their academic experiences
  3. Be original, pioneering, or innovative
  4. Connect to the culture of the local community
  5. Academically enrich the lives of the participants
  6. Demonstrate local support
