Nuckolls Fund Grant

Deadline: 1/11/2021

Amount: $30,000 max

Website: https://nuckollsfund.org/grants-awards/

Description:

The purpose of the program is to expand a lighting program at a North American institution. Funding is intended for the development and delivery of new or expanded courses in lighting. Benefit costs are allowable.

In preparing the proposal, carefully consider and address the following:

  1. The proposal is for the expansion of an existing lighting program. The submitting institution must currently offer at least one course dedicated to lighting.
  2. The proposal must document how the lighting course will enhance the existing lighting instruction.
  3. It is suggested that applicants seek endorsement of and assistance for institution’s lighting education program from the nearest Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) section, from practicing lighting professionals in the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and/or from the Designers Lighting Forum (DLF), and from local lighting companies whenever available.
  4. Although lighting instruction is generally housed in one academic discipline, lighting itself is multidisciplinary. Thus, proposals that involve faculty and students from more than one discipline are encouraged.
  5. Endorsement of the proposal by at least two academic officials (chair, director, dean, and so forth) of the institution is required. Such endorsement should indicate how the proposed activity will be integrated into existing programs and continued after the grant period ends.
