JVA is preparing to train the next class of prospective, new and experienced executive directors who want to learn/sharpen up their skills with the latest best practices at the fall 2010 Executive Director Academy (EDA), which begins on September 20. For the first time ever, JVA is condensing EDA into a one-week intensive consisting of five full-day sessions—giving those who live outside of the Denver area or those whose schedules can’t accommodate a seven-week course the chance take part in this unique professional development opportunity.  Although the course has been condensed into one week, EDA will still cover all of the same topics that an executive director needs to know to be successful—management, governance, fundraising, finances, marketing, grant writing and evaluation. To learn more about EDA and find out what past participants had to say about the course, click here.

Many of our EDA graduates have gone on to great things. To learn about the work of 2009 EDA grad, Lacey Books, and get involved in a great cause, join her at the launch party for her new nonprofit, YouthRoots—a nonprofit that works with local teenage students to design and lead change in their communities. The party will be held at Root Down restaurant on August 17 from 6:00–9:00 p.m. The event is free and all are welcome.

Check back in the coming weeks to learn more about the work our past EDA grads are doing to strengthen our community.
