Policy Research, Analysis and Advocacy Products and Services

Our experience in policy and advocacy spans a range of activities based on our clients’ specific needs, concerns and previous experience with policy and advocacy. We offer stand-alone services to help you move your current policy and advocacy efforts forward and understand how those efforts will be shaped by changes at the local, state and federal level—with a unique advantage based on our team’s previous professional experience in the advocacy and policy sphere.

For our clients who do not currently operate within the advocacy and policy world, we offer the ability to integrate our knowledge of the current and forecasted political climate into any of our other services.

If you would like to see how your direct-service work will be impacted by existing policies or predicted policy changes, we apply our research skills and social sector knowledge to other reports and projects; by using this knowledge to inform our process and/or recommendations, we can help you make decisions that help sustain your organization well into the future.

Specifically, we can:

  • Develop policy briefs that outline the implications of existing or proposed policies
  • Create policy recommendations and reports
  • Forecast the ways in which policies and regulations may influence your work and those you work with
  • Identify the intersections of your work with potential advocacy messaging, advocacy campaigns and outreach and educational efforts

Educate you and your staff through trainings on how to connect with elected officials, develop an advocacy agenda or how to differentiate between lobbying activities and other advocacy work.

Policy Briefs

One key element of incorporating advocacy efforts into your organization is understanding how existing and proposed policies might impact the work and the people that you serve. Conducting research and analyzing the implications of a given policy may seem daunting, but we can work with you to create succinct and powerful policy briefs that examine the implications of a given or proposed policy on your organization.

Used as specific tools, policy briefs effectively convey why an issue is important to your organization, presents the facts, highlights benefits and challenges to your organization or to the people that you serve, and provides concrete recommendations and next steps.

Policy Recommendations and Reports

Our experience in policy and advocacy spans a range of activities based on our clients’ specific needs, concerns and previous experience with policy and advocacy. We offer stand-alone services to help you move your current policy and advocacy efforts forward and understand how those efforts will be shaped by changes at the local, state and federal level—with a unique advantage based on our team’s previous professional experience in the advocacy and policy sphere.

If you are interested in diving deeper into the effects of a proposed or existing policy, we can work with you to explore the potential impacts on your organization or on those that you work with. By relying on our experience, conducting background research utilizing secondary data sources, examining case studies and/or conducting stakeholder analysis through surveys or focus groups, we can better understand the effects that a policy might have.

This research will guide us as we seek to make a case for or against a given policy or as we seek to articulate the comprehensive effects. Our policy reports often focus on answering questions that are often difficult and complicated, including questions such as:

  • Are there economic inefficiencies?
  • Are different groups of people affected in different ways?
  • Is the policy generally opposed or accepted by the public?
  • What are some alternative approaches?

Answering these types of questions can highlight the implications of a given policy on you, your work and on those that you serve. It is from this research and analysis that our team will then create recommendations that fit within the current political landscape, yet are specific to your needs.
