According to an article in the Denver Business Journal, a survey recently conducted by Mile High United Way among Denver nonprofits providing basic human services showed that 85 percent of nonprofits surveyed are seeing demand for their services go up, 44 percent are seeing donations go down and 29 percent have already cut staff to make up for losses.

Despite the dismal survey results, 81 percent of respondents said that they were optimistic about meeting their goals this year, and only 19 percent said they were pessimistic.
