Description:
The purpose of this program is to provide funding to public housing authorities for the purchase, installation, replacement, and repair of carbon monoxide detectors to minimize the risk to families from carbon monoxide poisoning in public housing communities. Awards must be used to address an emergency that has occurred or has been determined within the federal fiscal year in which the funds were appropriated.
Funding will be provided for items that address the threat to health and safety posed by the presence of carbon monoxide, specifically carbon monoxide detectors, including standalone or combination carbon monoxide/smoke detectors or alarms. Eligible items must meet Uniform Physical Condition Standards (UPCS) and local code requirements for egress where necessary.
