Description:
The purpose of the program is to support projects that promote health equity in indigenous communities. The purpose of the program is to improve health equity and close gaps in healthcare for Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander populations. This notice solicits applications for projects to establish a Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity (CIIHE), for which OMH will provide the organizational structure and operational framework. The CIIHE will support efforts including education, service and policy development, and research related to advancing sustainable solutions to address health disparities and advance health equity in the American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) populations. The CIIHE award recipients (awardees) will function as a single initiative, coordinated by OMH, through two cooperative agreements to be awarded through this funding opportunity. Each award will focus on one of the two focus populations:
- AI/AN populations
- NHPI populations
Eligible applicants:
- City or township governments
- County governments
- Independent school districts
- Indian housing authorities
- Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Private institutions of higher education
- Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
- Public housing authorities
