Out-of-School Time Physical Activity– The purpose of this program is to support projects providing quality, structured physical activity in out-of-school time settings, including before-school, after-school, and summer projects. Supported projects must increase the number of children and adults who engage in moderate to vigorous physical activity. Priority will be given to projects that involve children and youth in K-8th grades from high-need/low-income communities
Advocacy Leadership- The goal of this funding opportunity is to build advocates for social, physical and economic environments that promote health. Specifically, advocacy leadership development programs for at least one of the following groups: 1) community members; 2) professionals from various sectors 3) youth
Consumer Health Advocacy – The goal of this funding opportunity is to ensure public policy adequately addresses Colorado consumers’ needs for a health insurance system that is stable, affordable and adequate. The four-year initiative employs multiple types of funding, including general operating grants, awarded in 2014 and 2016, program and project grants awarded annually in June, and rapid response grants throughout the year, designed to adjust to the shifting health care political terrain.
Creating Healthy Schools- 1) Local planning/assessment track provides up to two year grants to districts, groups of districts, groups of charter schools or local community partners to implement local planning, capacity-building and community collaboration processes. 2) Local implementation track funds existing comprehensive school health and wellness plans, implementation of select activities.
Health Insurance Literacy- This funding opportunity is designed to support organizations seeking to improve health insurance literacy by increasing the number of opportunities for individuals to gain information on how to better understand and use health insurance. The goal of this initiative is to be responsive to community need, while also informing key stakeholders in the health coverage community and the Foundation as to how to best impact Coloradans’ health insurance literacy.
1) Long-term policy initiatives and 2) organizational capacity building- Preference for both areas will be given to initiatives that focus on one of the following policy priorities: increasing children’s access to and consumption of affordable healthy foods and/or reducing access to or consumption of unhealthy foods and beverages; or improving community facilities, transportation, roads, trails, sidewalks, parks and open spaces to support active living among children.
Activating Places and Spaces Together- This funding opportunity supports locally-defined, place-specific efforts to get people outdoors and actively engaged in their neighborhoods – together. The goal of the funding opportunity is to help activate existing infrastructure in public places that contributes to a community’s overall health through residential usage and positive experiences. Foundation grant funds will support costs associated with project/program planning and/or implementation for up to one year. In addition, funding for technical assistance for community engagement, communications and marketing is available.
1) Primary care leadership and 2) Strengthening Primary Care – The goal of the primary care leadership initiative is to enhance the primary care workforce to drive change, strengthen the delivery of services and improve the health outcomes of those they serve. It is looking for programs that will support clinicians to improve their leadership skills, including strategic thinking, team-building and leveraging integrated networks. The goal of strengthening primary care is to support primary care providers by offering low-interest loans in addition to grants so that organizations can access the flexible capital they need to increase access to and improve the delivery of comprehensive, person-centered care.
