Description:
The purpose of this program is to establish a mechanism to offer pre-event vaccinations to emergency response providers through a voluntary vaccination pilot program. Projects will select emergency response providers that have been assessed as high risk for exposure to aerosolized anthrax spores during the course of their assigned duties in the event of a wide-area anthrax attack in the jurisdiction in which they work or live. The program’s focus will be the identification of state and local jurisdictions best suited for participation in the program.
Award recipients must:
  1. Conduct user training on the anthrax threat, the anthrax vaccine program, and the ramifications of volunteering for the vaccination program
  2. Deliver and administer a full pre-event course of anthrax vaccines drawn from the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS)
  3. Assess the acceptance level and understanding of risks and benefits in the emergency response provider community, and assess operational impact of the voluntary pre-event anthrax vaccination program
