Description:

The purpose of the program is to support efforts by State agencies and their community-based and faith-based partners to develop and implement projects that focus on improving the quality and efficiency of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) operations and processes.

This grant competition requires applicants to respond to at least one of the following three priority areas and to report qualitative and quantitative data in order to measure meeting the objective(s) associated with those priority area(s):

  1. Increase the use of human-centered design in SNAP applications and notices (Objective #1): Proposals targeted towards this priority area will aim to increase the use of humancentered design in SNAP applications and notices.
  2. Improve preparedness for public health emergency and pandemic response by strengthening virtual and disaster response operations (Objective #2): Proposals targeted towards this priority area will implement projects that improve day to day SNAP operations and increase adaptability and responsiveness of SNAP processes.
  3. Improve SNAP customer service responsiveness and effectiveness (Objective #3): Proposals targeted towards this priority area should focus on improving SNAP customer service and increasing client access.

  3. Faith-based Organizations
  4. Local Governments
  5. Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
