Description:

The purpose of this program is to support grassroots nonprofit organizations that work to foster just and sustainable communities. Project categories include the following focus areas:

Human Rights:

  1. Issues pertaining to immigrants and refugees
  2. Reproductive rights
  3. Secondary priority will be given to:
  4. Access to health care
  5. Livable wage campaigns

Environmental Protection and Justice

  1. Local, grassroots organizing regarding climate change
  2. Environmental education opportunities, especially for children
  3. Efforts to work with underserved communities being disproportionately affected by environmental issues, such as the impacts of pipelines, flooding, and coal ash, that address root causes
  4. Protection of the forest ecosystem, specifically:
  5. Responsible outdoor recreation, and,
  6. Responsible harvesting and use of forest ecosystems

Food Access, with a special focus in Appalachia and Colorado:

  1. Nutrition and cooking education
  2. Farm to School programs, connecting public schools to local agriculture
  3. Gleaning
  4. Farming education for children and youth
