Description:
The purpose of this program is to support the development, improvement, and/or implementation of emergency planning activities for state, tribal, county, and local juvenile justice residential facilities. Funding will help juvenile justice facilities to respond to, and recover from, emergencies by restoring essential services and operations. For the purposes of this program, an emergency is defined as a natural, technological, or man-made incident that requires a response to protect life, property, or the environment. Program objectives include:
  1. Encouraging the development or refinement of juvenile justice facility emergency preparedness plans that address the principles outlined in the funding agency’s Emergency Planning for Juvenile Justice Residential Facilities guide, which is attached as the EmergencyPlanningGuide file
  2. Strengthening facility preparedness to maintain the efficient continuation of operations and reduce risk to the physical plant
  3. Ensuring the safety and well-being of youth and staff in juvenile justice residential facilities
