Description:

Funding from Lake Fork Community Foundation is intended to support projects and activities in the areas of youth education, the needy, the arts, animal protection, youth recreation, and beautification. Funded activities must benefit residents of Hinsdale County who reside along the valley of the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River.

The determination to promote and support shall be made by the Board of Directors of the corporation and may include, but not be limited to, the following purposes:

  1. For the support of the youth of the area, including but not limited to educational assistance, recreational facilities, etc.
  2. For providing support for public recreation and the arts.
  3. For assisting public, educational, medical, charitable, or benevolent institutions, whether supported wholly or in part by private donations or by public funds, and the public schools of the area.
  4. For promoting scientific research for the advancement of human knowledge and the alleviation of human suffering or the suffering of animals.
  5. For the care of the sick, aged, and helpless.
  6. For the care of needy men, women, and children.
  7. For beautification of the area.
  8. For the care and protection of animals.
  9. For any other lawful activity permitted by the Colorado statutes under which the corporation is established which, in the opinion of the Board of Directors, will promote or support the citizens of the area, either directly or indirectly.

  1. Signature of the president or chairperson and another officer of the agency’s governing body, and also the name, title and telephone number of an individual who may be able to provide additional information regarding your application.
  2. Itemized project budget.
  3. Agency/club/organization current annual income and expense budget (i.e. Balance Sheet, annual audit information).
  4. Approval by agency/organization’s governing board/director approving the project (i.e. copy of the resolution or minutes, letter of approval, etc.)
  5. List of Officers/Board Members

Eligible applicants:

Organizations qualify for contributions from the Lake Fork Community Foundation, either by receiving grants or as a conduit to transfer donations, if they submit evidence of one of the following using their IRS letter recognizing it as tax-exempt or by their most recent 990 filing.

a) A 501(c) nonprofit tax-exempt organization

b) A government agency

c) Churches and Religious Organizations

The Lake Fork Community Foundation promotes and supports the citizens of that portion of Hinsdale County located along the valley of the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River. It is a general practice of the Lake Fork Community Foundation to avoid undue dependency on the Foundation and refrains from awarding grants for operating expenses.
