Description:

The Focus Area Fund supports general operating grants to organizations that deliver outcomes aligned with the Rocky Mountain Health Foundation’s core focus: to provide for basic needs, as well as to increase access to and affordability of health care.

Basic Needs

  1. Food (food banks and pantries, meal services, food-related equipment and delivery vehicles)
  2. Housing (emergency shelters, safe houses, rental/mortgage assistance)
  3. Transportation (medical, dial-a-ride vouchers, bus passes)
  4. Safety (domestic violence, sexual assault, child advocacy, in-home parent education and child abuse prevention)

Physical Health

  1. Dental screening and service
  2. Visual/hearing screening and services
  3. Medical screening and services
  4. Animal assisted physical therapy/occupational therapy
  5. Health navigator, promotora
  6. Hospice/palliative/home health care
  7. Securing health insurance

Behavioral Health

  1. Mental health counseling and therapy
  2. Crisis response
  3. Suicide prevention
  4. Substance abuse treatment and therapy
  5. Substance abuse prevention
  6. Animal-assisted behavioral health therapies
  7. Grief counseling

Eligible applicants:

Applicants must be a 501(c)(3), a 509(a) or a governmental, tribal, school, or public entity, or use a fiscal sponsor. Applicants must contact program staff prior to submitting an application. Programs must benefit residents in the following counties: Grand, Jackson, Moffat, Rio Blanco, Routt, Mesa, Eagle, Garfield, Lake, Pitkin, Summit, Delta, Gunnison, Montrose, Ouray, Archuleta, Dolores, Hinsdale, La Plata, Montezuma, San Juan, and San Miguel counties.

Ineligible for funding:

• Capital construction or endowment campaigns

• Debt reduction or loans

• Educational institutions, except for programs that align with our mission

• Environmental stewardship programs

• Individuals

• Marketing plans and materials

• Policy, advocacy, or research

• Political causes, candidates, organizations, or campaigns

• Religious organizations for religious purposes

• Special events

• Sponsorships for events, conferences, speakers

• Travel, conferences, group meetings, or seminars

• Organizations or projects that unlawfully discriminate with regard to employees, volunteers, delivery of services, or clients served based on age, sex, religion/creed, race, color, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, marital status, military or veteran status, pregnancy, or genetic information
