Description:

The purpose of the program is to support the development, creation, or expansion of programs that accelerate technology-based economic development in pursuit of vibrant, innovative economies and economic growth, and respond to the challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic. SPRINT Challenge applications will be awarded under the EDA’s Economic Adjustment Assistance (EAA) program, which is authorized under Section 209 of the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965 (PWEDA) (42 U.S.C. § 3149). Applicant organizations should articulate a clearly defined strategy to leverage grant funds to support activities that help address the needs of and unique operating environment necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic.

Eligible applicants:

District Organization of an EDA-designated Economic Development District;

Native American Indian Tribe or a consortium of Indian Tribes;

State, county, city, or other political subdivision of a State, including a special purpose unit of a State or local government engaged in economic or infrastructure development activities, or a consortium of political subdivisions;

Institution of higher education or a consortium of institutions of higher education; or

Public or private non-profit organization or association acting in cooperation with officials of a political subdivision of a State.
