The purpose of this program is to provide law enforcement agencies with funds necessary to protect their members. Awards are intended for the purchase of safety equipment through the funding agency’s corporate sponsors.
Equipment purchases should align with the following categories:
- Protecting life: products and services that represent the highest order in the continuum of officer safety and longevity
- Projecting force: tools and equipment that enable law enforcement professionals to neutralize threats according to the guidelines of the force continuum and to achieve the ultimate end result, which is the protection of life, the preservation of order, and the security of their own well-being
- Creating advantage: tools and equipment that create an unfair advantage, within the confines of the law, in the balance of power between peace officers and the criminal element, and that enable law enforcement personnel to augment the effectiveness and safety of officers in the execution of their duties
