The purpose of the International Initiative component is to help women, girls, and their families in underdeveloped countries overcome violence, poverty, and hardships by supporting projects in the following areas:
- Education: projects that address the needs of at-risk youth
- Environment, conservation, and preservation: forestry projects and projects that preserve and protect the environment by using scarce resources wisely
- Health: projects addressing mental health, including chemical dependency and family planning
- Economic development: projects that support microlending, providing sources of capital to create better lives
Each project must be new to the applicant organization and within its first year of development or implementation.
