The Creamery Arts Center is doing something different for the April opening art reception. They are hosting its first community, all media open show.

The exhibit is sponsored by Mike Jackson of Coldwell Banker Realty to support local artists. Friday’s events begin at 6 p.m. and go until 8.

The theme for the exhibit is “Local Wild Life” and is done to coordinate with Delta County Library’s Big Read featuring “Call of the Wild” by Jack London. The show will run from April 9 until May 10 in the Peach Gallery.

At the same time, student art from the Art Partners Program will be on exhibit in the Churro Gallery. Art Partners is a program for young artists to be mentored by established local artists. The program for teens 12 to 17 years old is presented by the nonprofit Delta-Montrose-Ouray Youth Services Organization.

Now has an artist showcase. This will allow people to view and purchase local artwork. The project was made possible by a Small Steps grant from the Colorado Council on the Arts; matching funds, capacity building and sponsoring Social Entrepreneurship Training by the Colorado Compassion Initiative and JVA Consulting; programmer John Carpenter; and the staff and volunteers of the Creamery.

Summer hours at the Creamery Arts Center in Hotchkiss are Monday–Saturday 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
