Description:
The purpose of this program is to support open space preservation projects that serve Adams County, Colorado, using funds obtained through the county’s Open Space Tax. This program provides awards for active use and passive use projects. Projects that tend to compete well under this program include:
  1. Land acquisition (passive use preferred over active use)
  2. Conservation easement acquisition
  3. Development of open space for public access, such as trails, picnic facilities, and fishing access
  4. New park development, such as playgrounds, ball fields, ball courts, skate parks, picnic facilities, splash pads, landscaping, and irrigation
  5. Trail construction, including pedestrian bridges and underpasses
  6. Park renovation
  7. Environmental education programs, scholarships, and materials
  8. Planning projects related to parks, trails, or open space
  9. Projects with a well-defined, specific scope
  10. Wildlife habitat restoration
  11. Projects that incorporate sustainability components related to native plantings, efficient use of water, or recycled/energy efficient materials
  12. Projects that discuss plans for preventative maintenance and actions to be taken in drought conditions, and utilize renewable water sources
  13. Court sport areas, with use of post-tension concrete for court sport surfacing preferred
