Description:
The purpose of this program is to prevent and reduce opioid, methamphetamine, and prescription medication abuse among youth ages 12-18 in communities throughout the United States. Awards issued through this program are intended as an enhancement to current or former award recipients of the funding agency’s Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program, known in eCivis Grants Network as US0499, that have established community-based youth substance use prevention coalitions capable of effecting community-level change.
Awards issued through this program are intended to:
  • Enhance the ability of established community organizations to create community-level change regarding opioid, methamphetamine, and prescription medication abuse
  • Strengthen collaboration among communities, the federal government, and state, local, and tribal governments to reduce opioid, methamphetamine, and prescription medication abuse among youth within the area served by the coalition
  • Enhance intergovernmental cooperation and coordination on the issue of opioid, methamphetamine, and prescription medication abuse among youth
  • Develop a comprehensive community-wide action plan to address the issue of opioid, methamphetamine, and prescription medication abuse among youth
