Description:
The purpose of this program is to provide critical resources to state, local, and tribal jurisdictions for the purchase of bullet-resistant body armor for law enforcement officers. Through this program, eligible jurisdictions will be reimbursed for up to 50 percent of the cost of each unit of eligible body armor purchased for law enforcement officers. The total cost of each qualifying vest purchase includes items considered integral to or essential for the proper care, use, and wearability of the vest, including:
  1. Cost of the vest
  2. Vest carrier
  3. Attachments
  4. Inserts
  5. Shipping and handling charges
  6. Fitting charges
  7. Applicable taxes
An unspecified amount of funding is available to support awards through this program. Funding will first be allocated to jurisdictions with fewer than 100,000 residents. Remaining funding will then be distributed on a pro-rata basis to jurisdictions with over 100,000 residents.
