Four local organizations, and 28 others across the state, have been awarded shares of $200,000 in grants from JVA Consulting through the Colorado Compassion Initiative.

The Western Slope award recipients are: The Latin Anglo Alliance Foundation ($8,325), Mesa County RSVP ($6,521), Western Colorado Suicide Prevention Foundation ($10,000) and Western Regional EMS in Montrose ($3,324).

Funds and services donated to the organizations will be used for senior resources, according to a press release issued by JVA Consulting. Each organization also receives free consulting services from JVA. The grants are awarded yearly to community nonprofit organizations that serve people 55 and older.
