JVA Consulting begins application period for grants and capacity building support to engage boomers and help elders in need

JVA Consulting, a Denver-based firm that works with nonprofit organizations and social innovators, has officially begun the application period for the Colorado Compassion Initiative (CCI). JVA was awarded funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Compassion Capital Fund (CCF) to build the capacity of agencies serving and engaging baby boomers and elders to improve their communities through CCI.

This year JVA will provide community and faith-based organizations in the metro areas of Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins/Loveland, Greeley and Pueblo— as well as rural areas in Delta, Fremont and Mesa counties—who are selected through a competitive grants process with financial grants, group trainings and one-on-one technical assistance.

Selected organizations will participate in JVA’s Comprehensive Organizational Assessment (COA) tool, assessing their greatest capacity needs in 15 different areas, such as fundraising, grantwriting, leadership, governance, personnel and marketing/public relations.

This will be followed by in-depth group trainings and one-on-one technical assistance. Organizations will be able to self-select from four tracks: social enterprise, health and wellness, baby boomer innovation and in-depth capacity
building.

Since 2002, JVA has managed three CCF capacity building initiatives—providing more than 6,000 hours of technical support and distributing almost $1.5 million to more than 500 Colorado organizations.

Interested organizations can visit http://www.jvaconsulting.com/cci to take an eligibility quiz and read about application requirements.
