We at JVA are devastated to hear of the loss of lives and homes in Oklahoma due to the horrific tornadoes that swept through the state this week. Our heartfelt condolences are with everyone affected by the storms.

We would like to share resources with our friends and neighbors who want to help with disaster relief, as well as resources for those who are still in the path of spring tornadoes. If you have more resources to share, we encourage you to do so in the comments section below.

NPR created a very useful guide for storm victims that includes: a FEMA guide to applying for aid (both web and mobile versions available), a link to the Oklahoma City Twitter page, which provides updates for residents on happenings in the city, and a list of suggestions for how to prepare for tornadoes from FEMA.

USA Today has compiled a comprehensive list for those who would like to help victims of the tornadoes, including several easy ways to donate to Red Cross efforts to deliver hot meals to victims in Oklahoma (one popular method is to donate $10 by texting REDCROSS to 90999). You can also make a $10 donation to the Salvation Army’s disaster response by texting STORM to 80888.

If you’re currently in, or plan to be in, Oklahoma, local news stations like NEWS OK have released the names of donation drop-off points and lists of items needed.

Please join JVA in keeping Oklahoma residents in your thoughts and share these resources with anyone who might benefit from the services, or who might like to help the victims.
