SENIOR ASSOCIATE-PROJECT MANAGER, SPECIALIZING IN GRANTWRITING AND FUND DEVELOPMENT

In the last two years, we have served over 500 clients, including foundations, nonprofit organizations, government and education agencies, and socially responsible businesses. We help our clients become more successful, sustainable and scalable through: community needs assessments; business and strategic planning; development of social enterprises; fund development; proposal writing; training and consulting services; capacity building initiatives; and research and program evaluation.

THE POSITION:

We are currently seeking a hard-working, high-energy, outgoing person with excellent customer service skills who has a passion for being in the community to join our team as a Senior Associate-Project Manager. This position will focus on helping our clients become more sustainable through grantwriting; strategic, business and fund development planning; and providing training and direct consulting in these areas.

The ideal candidate is looking to build a career while working with a group of colleagues to build JVA.

Specific responsibilities of this position include:

  • Developing foundation, corporate and government grant proposals for a variety of clients
    • Researching the Internet, databases, journal articles, government reports and other sources for the latest statistics, research and best practices to support proposals and fund development plans
    • Facilitating planning sessions for grant proposals and strategic and business plans
    • Providing coaching, group training and individual technical assistance in grantwriting and fundraising to diverse groups of clients
    • Managing grantwriting/fund development projects to ensure they are completed on time and on budget with a high degree of client satisfaction
    • Sending information to clients, communicating regularly with them and providing on-call technical assistance
    • Actively participating in business development, including introducing JVA to own networks, attending client events
    • Participating in JVA staff meetings and planning sessions
    • Working effectively with co-workers, clients and others, in a team or individual setting, by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others
    • Assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned
    • Conducting all work in accordance with JVA’s systems and procedures

Status: This is a full-time position with some evening and weekend hours, and occasional travel

Salary/Benefits: Starting salary depends on experience, with eligibility for performance-based incentives after completion of a three-month probationary period (please list your salary requirements in the cover letter). Benefits for full-time staff members include health/life insurance, a cafeteria plan, three weeks of paid flex leave (goes to four weeks after one year), paid holidays and a 401k plan with employer match after one year of employment.

Specific qualifications sought in this position are:

Professional qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Formal training and experience in the areas listed above in the statement of responsibilities: We are looking specifically for someone who has demonstrated success in writing government and foundation grants, and who has recent experience in at least one other method of fundraising (online, corporate sponsorship, individual donor solicitation). Experience in facilitation and in developing and presenting training workshops is also important.
    • Experience in organizational development, strategic/business planning, marketing
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines, completing projects on time and on budget, including managing teams of professional staff and subcontractors
    • High comfort level with online media, new technologies
    • Demonstrated ability to write quickly, think under pressure and meet deadlines without fail
    • Good interviewer; willing to pick up the phone anytime, anywhere to obtain a great story
