Always on the lookout for inspiring and innovative ideas relevant to the nonprofit sector and social change, we recently spoke with Jeremy Duhon who is an organizer for the TEDxMileHigh event that is coming to Denver in April. Jeremy is the president of the Denver Young Nonprofit Professionals (YNPN) so we were curious to find out what the TEDxMileHigh event has to offer for those in the sector.

“We’re hoping to showcase innovation and to inspire at this event,” explained Jeremy. “This is an opportunity to be exposed to big ideas about nonprofits and social enterprise.”

If you’re not familiar with TED, it’s a conference that started in the 1980’s that brings together some of the brightest thinkers and gives them the floor to share their big ideas with an audience made up of people who are looking to change the world. Past speakers at TED conferences have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall and Sir Richard Branson. The speakers scheduled for the locally-organized TEDxMileHigh event won’t disappoint those in the nonprofit sector either. The line up features Bernard Amadei founder of Engineers Without Borders, Jim Hayes former CEO of Junior Achievement, Paul Polak
founder of IDE and D-Rev, as well as the author of Out of Poverty, and Hunter Lovins founder and president of Natural Capitalism Solutions.

Key themes throughout the day will be health and social enterprise, and how to create change through big ideas. Nonprofit professionals can also expect to meet and network with others from the sector as YNPN expects more than 50 of its members to be in attendance.

TEDxMileHigh will take place at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at the Denver Center for Performing Arts on April 7 from 3–7:00 p.m. Early bird prices on tickets are available until February 28.
