Stephen Covey talks about the concept of “Big Rocks”—those things that require your attention in order to move your organization toward your desired outcomes. As an executive director, it can be challenging to balance and juggle those Big Rocks along with the smaller rocks that come up everyday.

Yet with more and more demand that your organization manage to and achieve outcomes, how do you deal with the staff person knocking on your door with a personal issue on the day you set out to call five donors? With a board chair’s request to attend an event? How do you stay focused on what will drive your mission forward?

On Tuesday, January 8, JVA’s first Executive Director Breakfast Club for 2013 will highlight this topic.

JVA’s Executive Director Breakfast Club is for nonprofit executive directors who:

  • Could benefit from lessons that other executive directors in the sector are learning
  • Would like to have a “safe space” with other executive directors where they could share your ideas and experiences and get valuable feedback

Each session will include a brief presentation by a JVA staff member or field expert, discussion and plenty of time for networking.

Each session will start at  8:30 a.m. with an informal breakfast and time to network with your executive director peers. Then, from  9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., we will continue with an informative training on the topic of the month.
