Jenn is JVA’s facilitation and planning manager and brings extensive experience in facilitation, training development and planning, as well as graphic design, grantwriting and report writing to the JVA team. Jenn is excited to apply her wide assortment of skills to a broad range of social issues in her role with JVA. She excels at creating systems and processes to streamline tasks, building community partnerships, and inspiring her colleagues to challenge themselves and build on their strengths. She is passionate about issues of social justice and equity and strives to make the world a better place for all.
From a young age, Jenn has been passionate about advocating for what she believes in. After completing her bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Jenn sought work in the nonprofit sector, where she could use her creative skills to help organizations effectively share their stories. This led her down a long and winding road where she found herself engaging in community outreach, training and education, fundraising and development, volunteer management, and organizational leadership.
Most of Jenn’s professional experience has been in the field of domestic violence prevention and advocacy, and she has provided education and training on this topic to high school and college students, volunteers, community members and victim advocates across the state of Colorado. Most recently, Jenn served as the executive director and sole staff member for the Denver Domestic Violence Coordinating Council (DDVCC), where she conducted research and provided training and technical assistance related to domestic violence fatality reviews.
In collaboration with the Colorado Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board and the Colorado Office of the Attorney General, Jenn provided leadership and subject matter expertise and managed the production of annual reports that included statewide findings and policy recommendations.
Jenn earned her BFA in graphic design from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design and her MPA from the University of Colorado Denver.
Jenn has volunteered with Denver area organizations working on issues of violence prevention, assisting with events, graphic design and marketing, as well as public speaking. She has also served as a member of nonprofit boards and is currently a facilitator with the Conflict Center.
Jenn has been studying and practicing the craft of silversmithing since early 2018, which allows her to utilize her design background to fabricate one-of-a-kind wearable art.
