Collin Lessing brings more than a decade of experience in communications and marketing to his role as Senior Grantwriter at Joining Vision and Action.
Collin’s passion is working with community-based organizations and sharing their stories of impact with funders. He has helped several organizations advance their sustainability and growth through $13.5 million in successful grants.
At JVA, Collin has worked with a variety of clients, from grassroots organizations to government agencies, to help them secure funding for their programs. Driven by his clients’ success, Collin enjoys long-term client relationships in which organizations are able to build momentum from grant to grant, and year to year. Examples of his work include:
- Raised more than $5 million for Clínica Tepeyac, a community-based safety-net clinic that serves uninsured, low-income Latino families
- Raised $1.4 million for Escuela Tlatelolco, a Denver-based Montessori school for students from low-income, predominantly Latino families
- Secured $845,000 for Denver Human Services to launch a new model for human services benefits screening and enrollment
Before coming to JVA, Collin was an account executive for Time Warner Cable’s advertising sales department in San Marcos, Texas. In 2008, he joined the communications department at the Harlandale Independent School District (HISD) in San Antonio. There, he worked on a team that focused on two large, public campaigns to help save the district from financial despair.
Collin is a graduate of the School of Communications at the University of Texas at Austin, and he received his MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2008.
Collin has been involved with a number of community organizations, including a variety of volunteer roles with Colorado Youth at Risk, and is a former treasurer of the board for Smart-Girl.
Collin’s favorite hobbies are playing guitar, practicing Brazilian jiu jitsu and spending time with his family.
